The French Court of Cassation Visits the Hostiarii Museum

On 3 February 3, 2016, two Counsellors of the Supreme Court of France visited the Hostiarii Museum of Judicial Officers in Paris, in the premises of the National School of Procedure of France

The visit of the museum was organised by Jacques Isnard, Honorary President of the UIHJ, following the meeting of the Scientific Council of the National School of Procedure of France held the same day in its Paris premises.

The Hostiarii (as were originally called the first French judicial officers) Museum was inaugurated on 20 March 2015. Since then, visitors from around the world have visited the only museum in the world dedicated to the profession of judicial officer.

On 3 February 2016, the Hostiarii Museum had the privilege of receiving the visit of Catherine Brouard-Gallet, Counsellor to the 2nd Civil Chamber of the French Court of Cassation, President of the Jury of the Professional Examination of Judicial Officers of France, and Marie-Laure Robineau, former Counsellor to the Supreme Jurisdiction.

With his usual vitality, Jacques Isnard, President of the Academy Jacques Isnard which administers the Hostiarii Museum, unveiled to the two illustrious visitors, obviously very interested in the treasures of the museum, all the secrets of the many items filling its various housings, some of them dating back to the 17th Century.

President Isnard had the opportunity to present the latest acquisition of the Museum: an original edition of the French Civil Code of 1804.

Françoise Andrieux, President of the UIHJ, also present, took the opportunity of the visit to give a copy of the Global Code of Enforcement to Ms Brouard-Gallet.
