At its 26th Plenary meeting held in Strasbourg on 10 and 11 December 2015, the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice of the Council of Europe (CEPEJ) adopted the Good Practice Guide in the field of enforcement of judicial decisions

On 17 December 2009 the Council of Ministers of the Council of Europe adopted the CEPEJ Guidelines on enforcement. The CEPEJ Working Group on Quality of justice (CEPEJ-GT-QUAL) decided to take a new step in its work to deal with the issue of enforcement by drawing up a Good practice guide on enforcement.

This Guide was commissioned by the CEPEJ for the UIHJ. It was prepared by Guillaume Payan, HDR Lecturer at the University of Toulon (France), member of the CDPC-JCE (UMR CNRS 7318 DICE) and Director of the Legal Unit of the UIHJ.

The Good Practice Guide is a practical tool for all countries seeking to optimise the enforcement of judicial decisions, in strict compliance with the principles promoted by the Council of Europe and included in the marble of the European Convention on Human Rights.

The UIHJ is particularly proud to have helped seal with the CEPEJ a new stone of this striking democratic edifice.
