The first Asian country to join UIHJ

We are in Paris, in the office of Yves Martin, president of the French national chamber of enforcement agents (CNHJ). At his side are Kraisorn Barameeauychai, General director of the Enforcement department service of the Ministry of Justice of Thailand, and Jacques Isnard, president of UIHJ. The time is 1 p.m. The representatives of UIHJ, CNHJ and the enforcement agents that took care of the Thai delegation's prior visit in France in April 2004 hold their breath. The fountain pens are opened and the ink is ready to draw.

The moment is solemn. And there it is, after ten years of contacts, a Co-operation charter between UIHJ and Thailand is finally signed. The event is historical: Thailand is the first Asian to join UIHJ. The doors of Asia are now officially opened !

From utopia to reality

Mr Thanakorn Voraprajchayakul, General permanent prosecutor of the Department of civil service affairs of the ministry of Justice of Thailand, remembers with a certain emotion the first contacts that occurred in 1994. At that time, joining the UIHJ seemed utopist and unrealistic to everyone from outside.

Today, with tenacity and will, utopia has become reality. After celebrating this event, a working meeting was organised. At the beginning of the meeting, Mr Barameeauychai positioned on the wall a small magnet, like about 60 others on the world map that is shown at the head office of UIHJ in Paris. And immediately, the co-operation gets concrete.

Indeed, there are talks of organising sometimes in the following months a visit of a UIHJ delegation in Thailand to a series of conferences about the profession. And a Thai delegation is also expected to come to France for a training seminar. After South America, UIHJ is very happy about this co-operation that is a cornerstone in its international quest.
