The European Association for Private International Law (EAPIL) Young Research Network organised on 21 November 2024 the concluding workshop of the project on “Recognition & Enforcement of Non-EU Judgments” at the premises of the HCCH in the Hague.
The workshop was organised in cooperation with the CILC Project Balkan Enforcement Strengthening Project (BESp), in which UIHJ is one of the partners. UIHJ was represented by its first vice-president and lead expert in the BESp project, Jos Uitdehaag. The workshop enabled young academics and researchers as well as private international law experts from the Western Balkan region to discuss the recognition of non-EU judgments, based on a comparitive report that will be published in the near future. The focus was on the assessment of (indirect) jurisdiction of the court of origin; the requirement of reciprocity: application and relevance as well as the policy implications.
