Meeting at the Ministry of Justice of Italy

AUGE representatives, Arcangelo d'Aurora and Andrea Mascioli, together with Dominique Abadie-Aribaut were received at the Department of Justice by Professor Salvatore Mazzamuto, Under Secretary of Justice, appointed by the Minister of Justice Paola Severino, in the context of a possible reform of enforcement and its players.
AUGE representatives highlighted the disadvantages of the current system. The Minister showed great interest in the subject and a thorough knowledge of the challenges of this reform of civil justice.
During the discussion, it appeared that the implementation of civil reforms can provide significant impetus to the economy.
The Minister, who took office recently following a change of government, asked our colleagues to see if reform proposals were tabled in Parliament by AUGE.
The latter replied in the affirmative, referring to a proposed reform of the profession of judicial officer presented by Senator Filippo Berselli, President of the Commission of Justice.
Dominique Aribaut-Abadie apologized for the absence of Leo Netten, President of the UIHJ, and explained the reason for her presence with her Italian colleagues. She explained the need for a harmonization of the profession in Europe.
She recalled the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) Guidelines, the economic interest of a professional who is not paid by the state, who ensures Legal certainty, and hence the sustainability of democracy. Finally, she recalled that the Italian colleagues are part of the project EJE (Court Enforcement in Europe), which is co-financed by the European Union. This project is an important challenge for all enforcement professionals in Europe. Their national courts must empower them to be professional performers for an efficient and egalitarian justice.
Mr Mazzamuto said he would meet the next day the President of the Commission of Justice to discuss the project submitted by AUGE. He will make a report to the Minister of Justice to examine the possibility of government support for the reform bill proposed by our Italian colleagues.
The result of their various consultations will then be communicated.
The Minister concluded by thanking Dominique Aribaut-Abadie, ex officio, for her support with Italian colleagues and involvement.
