Visit to the Caribbean Court of Justice
The UIHJ was Received on 5 September 2014 in Trinidad at the Caribbean Court of Justice by its Chairman, Sir Dennis Byron

The delegation of the UIHJ led by its President, Leo Netten, and composed of Sue Collins, Luis Ortega Alcubierre, members of the board of the UIHJ and Françoise Andrieux, General Secretary of the UIHJ was received by Sir Dennis Byron, President of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) in Trinidad.
Also in attendance were Justices Adrian Saunders and David Hayton. Vivian Georgis Taylor Alexander, Master Manager of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, and Jacqueline Graham, Register Marshall at the CCJ were also in attendance.
The CCJ is an institution that settles disputes between different Member countries of the Caribbean Community, (CARICOM), the Caribbean Common Market. It includes twelve countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Sir Dennis Byron introduced the judicial system of the court. He explained that a judicial reform program was in progress and why he needed expertise.
President Netten immediately offered the collaboration of the UIHJ in the development of the ongoing reform through a cooperative agreement that would allow CCJ countries to join the UIHJ.
The UIHJ is pleased to announce that such an agreement should be signed during the next Permanent Council to be held on the 27th and 28th of November 2014 in Paris.
