Cameroon Successfully Celebrates the World Day of the Judicial Officer
Since 2008 and every second Thursday of June, judicial officers around the world celebrate under the auspices of the UIHJ which currently has 74 member countries, the World Day of the Judicial Officer.
The event gives a suitable opportunity and reason to get acquainted with the profession of judicial officer whose missions are not always well perceived by litigants and the general public while, paradoxically, this enforcement professional is not only an essential part of justice but a key player in economic development and the consolidation of the Rule of law.
As a main proximity jurist who unfortunately faces daily multi-layered challenges, the judicial officer contributes significantly to give weight to the “fair trial” including in the phase of enforcing court decisions.
This year's World Day which is now in its 7th edition was celebrated on Thursday, June 12, 2014 under the theme: "The Protection of Human rights and the Judicial Officer."
Through roundtables, open events, sporting activities and conferences, the judicial officers of the ten regions of Cameroon joined on that day their colleagues from around the world to question and polish their image among litigants, as well as magnify the profession and humanise the enforcement of court decisions.
These activities were covered by the media which, like every year, truly put the profession under the spotlight. If the party was striking, the enforcement professionals that the judicial officers are were able to blend into the city to combine business with pleasure. Appointment has been made for next year for yet another just as rewarding celebration...
