The meeting was chaired by Diana Wallis, President of the ELI. The UIHJ was represented by Leo Netten, President, and by Francoise Andrieux, General Secretary.

Many topics concerning the statutory organisation of the Institute were discussed.

The agenda was remarkable because ELI is now developing its scope through numerous working groups (Special Interest Groups) without losing sight of the primary objective which is to improve EU legislation as reminded by Diana Wallis in her opening speech.

Different subjects were studied by the working groups: contract, tort, compensation, property, criminal law and procedure, family law and inheritance, public and administrative law, dispute resolution, insolvency.

Amongst these themes President Netten offered the help of the UIHJ in particular regarding mediation while recalling that one could build on the current situation as regards exchange of best practices with quotes including progress in Estonia with e-Justice and the spectacular example of harmonisation given by Ohada.

The UIHJ will be integrated into the reflections of the ELI to propose and to improve European legislation.
