The European Union of Rechtspfleger (E.U.R) was established in 1967. This organization covers the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain and Sweden (associate members: Chile, Japan, South Korea, Mali, Morocco and Tunisia).
The E.U.R represents the profession of Rechtspfleger and comparable higher officials in Europe.
Like the UIHJ, the E.U.R is an observer member of the Permanent Commission for the Efficiency of Justice of the Council of Europe (CEPEJ).
As part of its policy of being connected with other legal professions, the UIHJ developed relations with the E.U.R. It regularly attends events organized by the E.U.R. The president of E.U.R, Thomas Kappl, is also invited to attend meetings organized by the UIHJ.
The E.U.R is one of the organizations that were contacted by the UIHJ for the UIHJ project of creating a World Week of Justice to be put on the calendar of the UN. Thomas Kappl has agreed to support the UIHJ and present the project together with other representatives of other legal professions.
The general assembly of the E.U.R was held in Linz (Austria) at the Kaufmännischer Verein Palace, in the presence of Beatrix Karl, Federal Minister of Justice of Austria.
The work resulted in a conference on the theme: "Effective justice guarantees the European economic system" that was also attended by John Stacey, President of the CEPEJ.
