Representatives Coming From All Over the World
The list of the participants at this conference shows its importance. One finds there the names of the presidents or vice-presidents of the Supreme Courts of Austria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium (Court of Cassation), Venezuela, Vietnam, Iran, Kazakhstan, the Popular Republic of China, Kirghizstan, Moldova, the Netherlands, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Estonia.
As international organizations were present the International Union of lawyers and the UIHJ. The latter was represented by its vice-president, Roger Dujardin, and by Marc Schmitz, member of the Committee.
It is within the splendid and futuristic framework of the National Library of Belarus that the UIHJ could be presented to the participants of the conference. Roger Dujardin evoked in his talk the objectives of the UIHJ and thus aroused the interest of the representatives of the countries where the Union is not yet well-known.

Joining the Rows of UIHJ
At the time of a bilateral interview between Victor Kamenkov, president of the Supreme Economic Court, assisted of his vice-president, Yevgueniy Smirnov, and the representatives of the UIHJ, the wish was formulated by the Belarus authorities, that their judicial officers could join the rows of the UIHJ.
The body of the Belarus judicial officers, which are not organized in the form of an association, is composed of lawyers of university level. They are civil servants within the courts, carrying uniforms and professional badges and they enforce court decisions. There is a distinction between the judicial officers of the Commercial courts and those of the civil courts. Whereas the first are approximately 85 for all the country, those within the civil courts are of more than 1000.
The vice-president of the UIHJ, Roger Dujardin, proposed to invite a representative of the body of the Belarus judicial officers at the time of the next permanent council of the UIHJ in Paris in order to discuss there the methods of adhesion to the International Union.
It is to be said that the adhesion of the judicial officers of Belarus could certainly be of an interest for the UIHJ, considering that this country is incontestably a bridge towards the countries of the old Soviet mode, currently gathered under the Community of Independent States (CIS) and whose administrative seat is in...
