Visit of the UIHJ in Argentina and Chile from 13 to 17 November 2017

The President of the UIHJ, Françoise Andrieux, and Vice-President Luis Ortega went to Buenos Aires on 13 November 2017 to participate in a conference organized by the Ministry of Justice of Argentina in collaboration with the UIHJ on "Obstacles to the efficiency of procedures: proposals for solutions".

Françoise Andrieux presented the Global Code of Enforcement. Aida Kemelmajer de Carlucci, professor of law, former judge of the Supreme Court of the province of Mendoza, member of the Scientific Council of the UIHJ, spoke about the right to an effective decision. Among other speakers, Ignacio Goicoechea, representative of the Hague Conference on Private International Law for Latin America and the Caribbean, addressed the theme of "The importance of the country's domestic procedural law to give effect to the international system implemented by the Hague Conventions". Adriana Dreyzin de Klor, professor of private international law and regional integration law at the National University of Córdoba discussed the notification system in force in the MERCOSUR countries. Maximiliano Jesús Marchese Monterisi, President of the Civil Association of Notifiers of Justice of Argentina and Notifying Agent in the jurisdiction of the Judicial Department of Mar del Plata, made proposals for amendments to the Code of Procedure to avoid delays in proceedings.

Then the UIHJ signed a collaboration agreement with the University Atlántida of Mar del Plata, represented by its Dean, Verónica Santiago, in accordance with the policy of the UIHJ for establishing links with universities around the world.

Françoise Andrieux and Luis Ortega then traveled to Santiago, Chile, to present the Global Code of Enforcement to Chile's Justice Minister Jaime Campos and to the President of the Supreme Court of Chile, Hugo Dolmestch. On this occasion, they participated in a working meeting with the cabinet responsible for study and legal reforms.
