Meeting in Brussels of the "European Judicial Training" Expert Group
Francoise Andrieux, President of the UIHJ, participated on 9 July 2015 in the second meeting of the expert group on "European Judicial Training" at the European Commission in Brussels.
It was at the invitation of Alexandra Jour-Schroeder, Head of Unit within the Directorate General Justice of the European Commission that the UIHJ was able to contribute to the discussions of this working group.
The overall objective of the expert group was to help implement the recommendations of the pilot project on European Judicial Training in the light of the Council conclusions of December 2014.
The participants were asked initially to express very practical advice for training providers for all legal professions in terms of quality of training.
Secondly, the expert group proposed concrete follow-up actions at the level of the European Union.
A first meeting took place on 11 March 2015 and gave rise to various exchanges between experts present (including the presence of our Portuguese colleague, Jacinto Neto, representing the National Chamber of Solicitadores of Portugal).
Working groups having being created, Francoise Andrieux could provide an input on motivation regarding adult training.
The representatives of the DG Justice were Alexandra Jour-Schroeder, Emmanuelle Cretin-Magand, Regina Hernandez-Escriva, Heiko Wagner and Thierno Adenhof.
Training is one of the essential pillars of our profession. The UIHJ welcomes the ongoing cooperation established with the European Commission allowing its close and full participation in the development of training within the European institutions.
